OSTREALIA,
A CERTAIN IDEA OF SIMPLICITY

Ostrealia was born of two wishes:

To exploit the oyster shell, a co-product of our oyster farm, which is considered a waste product of our activity and yet is full of virtues.
To share all the benefits of our lagoon, the Mediterranean Sea and their fragile biotopes.

We have devoted five years to in-house research by integrating a doctoral student on a CIFRE thesis with the collaboration of the University of Montpellier, which is dedicated to the search for new active ingredients in our raw materials.

At the end of this phase, we developed a unique formula that concentrates the best of our oysters combined with marine collagen and sea fennel.

A family close to the Mediterranean

In 2018, La Maison Tarbouriech, an oyster farm for three generations, created Ostrealia, a range of natural marine cosmetics whose main active ingredient is the mother-of-pearl of Tarbouriech oysters.

Established in Marseillan since 1962, Maison Tarbouriech, the jewel in the crown of Mediterranean shellfish farming, raises oysters of incomparable quality.

The Spéciale Tarbouriech has seduced chefs and gourmets all over the world thanks to its taste with subtle notes, its dense and crunchy flesh.

In 2017, when La Maison Tarbouriech was planning to open a boutique spa hotel, Le Domaine Tarbouriech, just a few steps from the farm, the Tarbouriech family was anxious to find the right partner for the future spa. We needed a brand that looked to the sea, with natural ingredients and that resonated with the history of the House.

After several trials and a few decisive meetings, the Tarbouriech family decided to create their own range of cosmetics based on the mother-of-pearl produced in the adjacent oyster farm.

This circular and virtuous approach makes sense as Florent Tarbouriech was already involved in several projects to exploit oyster co-products.
